Adorned in Ash (AiA) is a female fronted Extreme Metal band from Pretoria, South Africa. Adorned in Ash pride themselves on delivering a unique musical experience along with a powerful stage show.
Influences include thrash, speed and groove metal as well as more progressive & technical death & black metal.

Live performance
Adorned in Ash has shared the stage with some of Southern Africa’s best and biggest metal acts as well as the international group Becoming the Archetype (USA) on their SA tour in 2010 and the bands Epica, Cannibal Corpse, Hatebreed, Decapitated, Kataklysm, Belphegor, Septicflesh, Fleshgod Apocalypse, Alestorm, Carnifex, Aborted, Skinned, and Restock at Witchfest 2015 in South Africa.
Some highlights of past shows include the Rock Nights at the South African State Theatre, multi-day camp over festivals across South Africa, Metal4Africa’s SummerFest 2014 in Stellenbosch, GoroFest in Maputo (Mozambique), Overthrust Winter Metal Mania Fest in Ghanzi (Botswana) – coinciding with the celebrations for Botswana’s 50th year of independence, and Witchfest 2015.

Award Nominations
Adorned in Ash was nominated for three awards in the inaugural South African Metal Music Awards (SAMMA) in 2014 and for two awards in the 2015 SAMMA’s.
The SAMMA’s have very quickly become the premier metal awards ceremony in South Africa and involves artists from across South Africa, from newcomers to legendary bands who started in the 90’s.
The nominations in 2014 were for Best Live Act, Best Vocalist – Robyn Ferguson, and Best Black Metal Act.
AiA was also nominated for best Death Metal band and Best Music Video in the 2015 instalment of the South African Metal Music Awards.

Radio, Television and International Exposure
Adorned in Ash has received airplay for released singles on South African radio stations TUKS FM 107.2, RSG, Zone Radio and Mix FM 93.8 as well as international airplay on TBFM Online Radio (London, UK), Metal Pulse Radio (Alaska) and Power Praise FM (Australia).
Adorned in Ash was also featured on a Mozambican television show for which they were interviewed following the performance at GoroFest in 2014 and have been played several times on Botswana’s biggest radio station, RB1 for both the festival in May of 2016 as well as during day-time shows thereafter.
Adorned in Ash were also featured in a documentary on metal in Africa called “UD2M : Afrique, la dernière frontière du Metal” including in-depth interviews on Enorme TV, aired on French television and available online. The band was also accompanied by French journalists who documented the Overthrust festival in Botswana during the trip to Ghanzi which was published in VSD, a monthly publication with weekly circulation figures upwards of 150 000. Other publications also ran stories on the event including The Wall Street Journal.
